Thuso Mbedu scores another international nod

Thuso Mbedu receives her second international award nomination, the star is nominated for the best young actress in the 2018 International Achievement Recognition Awards (IARA).  Good doesn’t begin to describe Thuso’s year.  The star was nominated last for the Emmy awards , as if that’s not enough  she recently took number one spot on the 2018 Forbes Africa Under 30. Thuso also won the SAFTA’s best actress award.

In an interview with IOL news, Thuso Mbedu shared how she started in the industry.  “I really took a leap of faith when I got to Johannesburg. There was no plan, but I knew I needed to survive and I needed to do anything and everything it took to find work in the industry. For a while I squatted with friends. Then I auditioned for Saints and Sinners, I went into that audition as if it was a do or die moment. And it paid off,” she explains.

Thuso is South Africa’s young leading actress and known for her role in the popular TV series  Is’thunzi  as Winnie which managed to score her an award at the South African Film and Television Awards. Thuso has been in various TV shows such as Saints and Sinners, Isibaya, Scandal, Snake Park and Shuga.
